When a friend comes from afar, is that not delightful?
Confucius
We think too small, like the frog at the bottom of the well. He thinks the
sky is only as big as the top of the well. If he surfaced, he would have an
entirely different view.

This is a short introductory entry to introduce a series of reviews on Beijing, China.
I have visited Beijing on a number of occasions and a long time ago fell in love with the city, notwithstanding its well publicised pollution problems.
While I have spent time exploring many parts of the city this blog, at this point, focuses on Tiananmen Square and its immediate environs excluding the Forbidden City which to-day lies beyond the Gate of Heavenly Peace, a gate familiar to all and used by most visitors to access the Forbidden City.
** The title of this blog is quotation from Confucius.
This blog entry is the first of a group (loop) of entries based on a number of trips to Beijing. I suggest you continue with my next entry – Days Inn, Forbidden City.

I’m glad to see you are getting some of your Beijing tips posted here.
