I came across this eclectic mix of ceramic tile murals as I was wandering around some of the lesser known streets in Darlinghurst.
They are affixed to a currently vacant building on the corner of Francis and Yurong streets, formerly a Vincentian Village (nursing home) run by the St Vincent de Paul Society. Having established the ownership of the murals, created by local artists, the eclectic mix made more sense. The murals, while not primarily religious in nature, depict the work of St Vincent de Paul.
While St Vinnies has vacated the building and it is up for sale and redevelopment it is nice to see that applications for redevelopment must incorporate the murals. Hopefully they will stay intact into the future.
