For those into into such things, this is my 1000th blog entry. A big thank you to everyone who reads my blog on a regular basis or who pops in for a look every now and then. I appreciate your support and encouragement.

Emanating from the UK, as I do, and being of a certain vintage a trip to the seaside was never complete without a ride on the dodgem cars, the big dipper, a game of penny push and, especially when younger a ride on the carousel. Luna Park – Just for Fun and Art

If you only go to Sydney’s Luna Park to have your photo taken in front of the funfair’s iconic clown face (based on Old King Cole) entrance then it’s worth the trip.

Luna Park is modeled, in art deco style (look at the towers by the entrance), on similar parks in Melbourne and Adelaide (the latter of which closed as Sydney was opening) and on the world’s first Luna Park which opened on Coney Island, New York in 1903. Pyongyang Funfair

Having read about the experience of other tourists going to a funfair in Pyongyang I was really looking forward to our visit to the funfair and not because I particularly needed to go to North Korea to have a ride on a roller coaster or in a dodgem car.
