As part of the its activity to commemorate the centenary of the 11 November 1918 Armistice, which brought about the end of World War I, the Australian War Memorial opened its commemorative area for night-time viewing (up to 10pm) on a number of weekends running up 11 November 2018. This rare event allowed visitors to see the memorial in a different light. Again, as part of its commemorative programme visitors were also able to enjoy the Memorial’s temporary 62,000 Poppy Display by night.
As I have written separate reviews on the Memorial’s Commemorative Courtyard and Roll of Honour, the Hall of Memory, the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier and, most recently, on the 62,000 Poppies Display I will leave you to enjoy some night-time pictures without further commentary.
Lest we forget.

You’ve got some fantastic shots of the war memorial at night. It must have been a challenge with the lighting? Thanks for sharing.

Thank you 🙂 .. all taken on mobile phone .. the difficult (and worst) ones were the poppy ones as there was a very badly (for photographers – not the poppies!) positioned floodlight between the buildings and the poppy area.

I can imagine. I struggle with night shots (sunrise/sunset) on my phone. Hubby’s got a better camera for them. The poppies look great! Your efforts paid off. 🙂
